About CTD

Independent reporting on security, privacy, software, AI and business technology.

CTD, short for Contrôle Tes Données (“control your data”), is an independent technology news site. We report on security incidents and fixes, data-protection law and enforcement, software releases, artificial intelligence, and the business side of technology, in plain English and with the sources attached.

What we publish

Short, sourced news stories and practical guides. Each story explains what happened, how we know, and why it matters, and ends with a list of the advisories, filings, documentation and announcements it draws on. We say which facts come from a vendor, which from a regulator and which from independent research, and we keep opinion out of the news.

Our sections

  • Security: breaches, vulnerabilities, ransomware and the people and tools that respond.
  • Privacy: data-protection law, enforcement and platform policy.
  • Software: releases, open source, developer tools and operating systems.
  • AI: models, regulation, adoption and risks.
  • Guides: step-by-step explainers built from official documentation.
  • Business Tech: cloud, enterprise IT, deals and compliance.

The name

The site’s name is French, and that is where the project started. The publication is written in English for an international readership. The idea behind the name is the thread through everything we cover: who holds your data, what they are allowed to do with it, and how you keep control.
